Paulina previously tried to limit the excessive electricity usage at EJ’s hospital. However, EJ quickly stopped her plan by revealing why so much power was being used in the first place.

He explained that the electricity was needed for an unusual and shocking purpose an effort to bring Lexie back to life. EJ makes it clear that he has control over the process. If he chooses to flip the switch, the revival effort could end instantly, effectively causing Lexie to die again.

The decision is placed in Paulina’s hands. EJ tells her that he can end the process whenever she gives the word.
