BTS' Arirang comeback explained: 14-track album, Spotify campaign, Netflix concert, record 82-date world tour & India PVR screenings

With anticipation building across the world, BTS' comeback after nearly 5 years with their album Arirang is shaping up to be less of a comeback and more of a cultural moment.
A new chapter is about to unfold for BTS. After years defined by military enlistments, solo ventures, and limited group activity, the seven-member global phenomenon is preparing to return with a project that is already being framed as one of the biggest music events in recent memory.
Their new album Arirang, arriving on March 20, marks the group's first full-length release in more than five years and their first collective project since completing mandatory military service in South Korea.
But the album itself is only one piece of a much larger rollout that includes a free Seoul concert, major programming on Netflix, an ambitious global tour stretching into 2027, and special cinema screenings for fans in India through PVR Cinemas.
With anticipation building across the world, BTS' return is shaping up to be less of a comeback and more of a cultural moment.
The title of the album carries deep historical and emotional meaning. BTS revealed that Arirang takes its name from a centuries-old Korean folk song that has long symbolized longing, separation, and reunion.
In a statement explaining the choice, the group's label said, "Transcending time and generations, the song has long been associated with emotions of connection, distance, and reunion."
The album itself has been described as "a deeply reflective body of work" exploring the group's "identity and roots,” with the members selecting the title because of its "strong resonance with their current journey." For a band that has spent years navigating time apart from both each other and their fans, the symbolism feels deliberate.
The road to Arirang reportedly began shortly after the final member completed military service in 2025. Instead of returning immediately to the spotlight, the group quietly regrouped in Los Angeles.
For two months, RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook lived together while developing the album - something that had not happened since 2019. The shared living arrangement allowed the members to reconnect creatively and personally after years of individual schedules.
That period of collaboration ultimately shaped the tone of the project, which focuses on reflection, identity, and reunion.
Excitement around the comeback intensified on March 3 when BTS released the full tracklist for Arirang.
The 14-song album features:
The lead single, Swim, is currently available for preorder and serves as the first preview of the album's sonic direction.
Just one day after the album release, BTS will take the stage for a special event in the heart of South Korea. The group is scheduled to perform a free concert at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul, an event expected to draw enormous crowds. For fans unable to attend in person, the concert will be livestreamed worldwide on Netflix.
The platform will also host a behind-the-scenes documentary that follows the group as they prepare for their long-awaited return.
Soon after the comeback celebrations, BTS will launch what is already being described as the biggest tour of their career.
The Arirang World Tour begins April 9 at Goyang Stadium and will continue through March 2027. With more than 82 shows planned across 34 cities in 23 countries, it stands as the largest global tour ever mounted by a South Korean act.
The concerts will feature an immersive in-the-round stage design, allowing fans to surround the performers from all sides. Demand has already proven overwhelming, with tickets for nearly every announced show selling out within hours.
As part of the comeback rollout, Spotify has partnered with BTS to create a special fan experience titled Decoding ARIRANG.
Launching March 13 within the Spotify app, the interactive feature serves as a countdown to the album's release and offers fans a chance to explore clues and themes tied to the project. The campaign marks the beginning of a broader promotional strategy designed to turn the album's arrival into a global event.
Even though India is not part of the official tour itinerary, fans in the country will still have a chance to watch the concerts together. PVR Cinemas has announced special theatrical screenings of the Arirang world tour concerts across selected theaters nationwide.
Two screenings have been scheduled - April 11 and April 18. According to official information, the April 11 screening will begin at 3:15 PM IST, while the April 18 show will start at 11:15 AM IST.
The concerts will be broadcast live from Goyang in South Korea and Tokyo in Japan. Fans around the world will also be able to watch through Netflix's livestream.
