Queen Latifah, the 55-year-old American rapper and songwriter, whose real name is Dana Owens, has suddenly found herself at the centre of viral social media speculation after rumours claimed that she recently welcomed a new baby. The posts allege that the rapper even made an announcement while holding the newborn. However, as the claims spread rapidly online, many fans questioned if the information is real or simply another baseless internet rumour. Let's find out.

Where did the Queen Latifah baby rumour start?

According to PrimeTimer, the viral rumour appears to have originated from posts shared by Facebook pages such as Renny, which has more than 781,000 followers. The page published a sensational post claiming that Queen Latifah had made a shocking baby announcement, writing, “BREAKING: Queen Latifah has just dropped a BOMBSHELL baby announcement — welcoming a beautiful baby — and it’s the BABY’S NAME that’s sending the internet into…”

Not only that but similar claims were later shared by another Facebook page, VAR South Africa, which posted that the star had finally revealed a deeply personal moment after years of keeping her private life out of the spotlight.

The dramatic posts quickly circulated online, fuelling speculations among fans.

The page mentioned, "In a quiet and emotional announcement, she revealed the arrival of a beautiful baby, holding the newborn gently in her arms. But it’s the baby’s name, deeply meaningful and symbolic of her journey, that has left fans speechless and filled social media with love, surprise, and heartfelt congratulations."

Are the viral claims about Queen Latifah true?

As per the report, the posts shared by the Facebook pages relied on questionable third-party blog sources and featured an image of Queen Latifah holding a newborn.

In reality, the Grammy-winning artist has not made any such announcement or shared a photo with a baby. The viral image circulating online is widely believed to be AI-generated, making the claims about her welcoming a new child false.

In reality, the Trav'lin' Light artist is already a mother to her six-year-old son Rebel, whom she shares with long-time partner Eboni Nichols. Although she has largely kept her family life private, Latifah publicly acknowledged Nichols and their son during an acceptance speech in 2021.
