Sheryl Underwood breaks her silence on Sharon Osbourne feud after Ozzy Osbourne’s death and explains why she tried to reach out

The long-running tension between Sheryl Underwood and Sharon Osbourne has resurfaced in an unexpected way. Years after their explosive on-air clash, Underwood has revealed that she quietly tried to contact her former colleague following the death of Ozzy Osbourne, offering a glimpse into the complicated emotions that still surround their fractured relationship.

During a recent appearance on The View, Underwood reflected on the fallout from the dramatic confrontation that unfolded in 2021 on The Talk. While the moment became one of daytime television’s most talked-about controversies, Underwood suggested that the personal connection she once shared with Osbourne has never entirely disappeared.



She revealed that after hearing about Ozzy Osbourne’s death in July 2025, she attempted to reach out privately. The legendary rock star died at the age of 76 following complications linked to cardiac arrest, coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease. Underwood explained that despite their past disagreements, she felt compelled to offer condolences.

“I still believe there’s some love between me and Sharon,” she said, noting that years of working side by side inevitably create a bond. “You don’t sit next to somebody for that long and not feel something.”

Yet her attempt to connect was cautious. Underwood admitted she avoided leaving a voicemail because she worried it might be misinterpreted or even leaked in an industry where private messages can easily become public headlines.



The tension between Underwood and Osbourne first erupted during a heated discussion on The Talk in 2021. At the time, the conversation centred on claims made by Meghan Markle regarding racial treatment within the British royal family.




Underwood recalled challenging the persistent criticism directed at Markle, particularly from broadcaster Piers Morgan, whose remarks had sparked intense debate. Osbourne had publicly supported Morgan’s right to express his views, which led to an emotional and highly public confrontation on air.

Reflecting on the moment now, Underwood suggested the situation spiralled far beyond what either of them anticipated. She acknowledged that both sides may have handled aspects of the situation differently and admitted the experience forced her to reconsider certain remarks she made during that turbulent period.

“I believe when Sharon is hurt, she is really hurt,” Underwood said, suggesting that the conflict was deeply personal rather than simply a professional disagreement.

The aftermath of the incident ultimately led to Osbourne’s departure from The Talk, turning the dispute into one of the most controversial moments in daytime television history.



Despite the years that have passed, Underwood has not ruled out the possibility of repairing their relationship. She told the hosts of The View that she would be willing to have a public conversation with Osbourne if the opportunity ever arose.

Even so, the narrative surrounding their dispute remains complicated. In a previous interview on The Sage Steele Show, Osbourne claimed she apologised to Underwood via text and phone shortly after the incident, although she also said she felt pressured to do so despite believing she had done nothing wrong.



Underwood’s latest remarks reveal a more reflective perspective on the saga. Rather than reigniting the conflict, she appears to be acknowledging both the emotional weight of their past and the respect that once existed between them.

Whether the two former cohosts will ever address their differences directly remains uncertain. What is clear, however, is that the story behind one of television’s most dramatic fallouts is still evolving, shaped by time, personal loss and the lingering possibility of reconciliation.
