Britney Spears keeping a low profile after DUI controversy

Since the incident became public, Spears has reportedly chosen to remain at home rather than face the inevitable attention that would follow a public outing.

"Britney has been lying low at home," a source said according to Us Weekly. "She knows it'll be a spectacle the next time she steps out, so she's trying to avoid that as long as humanly possible."

According to the insider, the singer is fully aware that any appearance outside right now would likely spark a wave of headlines and intense media coverage.

Britney Spears reconnecting with sons amid difficult moment

While staying out of the spotlight, Spears has reportedly spent time with her children. The insider also said that her younger son, 19-year-old Jayden James, "has been there with her," while the singer has also "seen" her 20-year-old son, Sean Preston.

Both young men share Spears' former husband Kevin Federline as their father. They previously moved with him to Hawaii in 2023 but have since returned to California.

Lynne Spears worried as family keeps close watch

Concern about Spears' well-being has also come from her mother, Lynne Spears, who sources say is closely monitoring the situation. "Lynne is very worried about her and keeping tabs on the situation through Britney as well as her team," the source says.

The concern comes shortly after Lynne was photographed arriving in Los Angeles roughly two weeks before the singer's arrest.

Britney Spears' representative calls arrest "completely inexcusable"

After the arrest became public knowledge, Spears' representative addressed the incident directly in a statement shared with Us Weekly. "Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law, and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney's life," the rep said.

"Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time." The statement also emphasized that Spears will not be navigating the situation alone.

"Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue, needed plan to set her up for success for well-being."

Britney Spears' family discussing possible treatment options

Sources say conversations are already taking place among Spears' family and advisers about ways to help her address underlying issues related to addiction and mental health.

"Her family and team are looking into treatment options for both addiction and mental health, but it won’t be easy to talk her into it unless she feels ready herself. You can’t force it," the insider notes. "They just need to have hope that she will take this arrest and its consequences seriously, which she seems to be doing so far. She has already expressed regret about what happened."

Those close to the singer are also worried about the legal consequences she could face. "They are praying that she doesn't get jail time for this," the source says, describing that outcome as "the worst case scenario."

What led to Britney Spears' DUI arrest

The incident that triggered the current legal situation occurred on March 4. According to the California Highway Patrol, Spears was arrested after officers reportedly observed behavior that suggested she may have been driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

Authorities stated that she was seen "driving erratically at a high rate of speed."

Spears was released from jail the following morning. However, the investigation has not yet concluded, as officials are still waiting for the results of a blood test she reportedly took at a nearby hospital while in custody.

Britney Spears' conservatorship history adds context to renewed scrutiny

The arrest has once again placed Spears' personal struggles under the public microscope years after the end of her highly controversial conservatorship.

For more than a decade, the legal arrangement granted her estranged father, Jamie Spears, control over many aspects of her personal, medical, and financial life. Spears later described the conservatorship as "abusive" during court proceedings before a judge ultimately terminated it in 2021.
